When Algorithms Know You Too Well: A Marketer's Ad Experience

Mari Smith came across this Audible ad on her phone that had this huge carousel of books - over 120 of them!

What really caught her attention was that about 80% of the books totally matched what she's interested in and wants to learn about.

She pointed out how this really shows how AI-powered ads are getting super smart, using all that data big tech companies collect to show us stuff we're actually interested in. While she found it kind of creepy how well the algorithm seemed to "know" her - almost like it was reading her mind - she had to admit it worked really well.

She wrapped up by asking her followers if they've been seeing more of these eerily on-point ads on Facebook too. Read more here.

The Math Behind Reaching 1k YouTube Subscribers

First off, let's be honest - this isn't happening overnight, and those "get 1K subs in 30 days" stories are pretty rare. The truth is, for most marketers and creators, it's a longer journey. Out of roughly 100 million YouTubers worldwide and just 300,000 have earned that Silver Play Button.

Here's what you need to know: on average, about 1% of your total channel views will convert to subscribers. So, doing the math, you're typically looking at needing around 100,000 total channel views to reach 1,000 subscribers. That's your real target.

The key is having a solid strategy built on four pillars: plan, produce, publish, and promote. You've got to be intentional about every video you put out there. And here's the thing - you need to niche down at first. You might want to make all kinds of different content, but you've got to build your foundation before you can branch out. Read more here.

Gemini Advanced Gets a Memory Upgrade: AI Now Remembers Your Past Chats

Google's adding a pretty cool upgrade to Gemini Advanced - it can now remember your previous chats and bring them up in new conversations. Think of it like talking to a friend who actually remembers what you discussed last time!

This means you won't have to keep starting over or dig through old conversations to find what you talked about before. If you're working on an ongoing project or having a longer discussion, the conversation will flow more naturally now.

Don't worry about privacy though - you're still in charge. You can check out all your past conversations in the My Activity settings, delete anything you want, or set up how long you'd like Gemini to keep your chat history.

Right now, this memory feature is only available if you're subscribed to Gemini Advanced through the Google One AI Premium Plan, and it only works in English. Google plans to roll the feature out in other languages soon and make it available for Google Workspace users in the next few weeks. Read more here.

Did You Know?

The oldest pearl ever found dates back 7,500 years to 5500 B.C. and was discovered in a gravesite in the United Arab Emirates. The pearl is faint pink in color and measures about 0.3 centimeters (0.13 inches) long. Similar to this very pretty but also very AI-generated pearl:
