Zombie rats attacked Archie - here's what I learned from it.
I'm not fond of zombie rats 🐀, but I'm grateful for them.
I'll tell you why.
We as humans have a tendency to keep busy.
Your mind always wants something to think about… That's why it's so hard to sit still, and do nothing.
You could say that's a good thing if you're in a position where you have to think of ways to improve your business, right?
You can use this mental energy to come up with amazing campaigns.
The problem is, amazing campaigns are often simple.
But the mind doesn't like simple things. Simple means you have to stop thinking and start doing. You can't sit and ponder ways of making your plan a reality.
The plan is as straightforward as it can be, so the mind tells you it won't work.
Think again, and think more.
Think so you're "busy" and "productive".
Think of the most complicated thing you can.
Think until your mind wanders off into fantasy lands, where zombie rats are real, and they're coming to attack Archie, the OptinMonster mascot.
And as the rats jump out of the dark alley, and lunge at Archie… you wonder how you ended up here.
5 minutes ago you were thinking "What can I do to convert more of my website visitors?".
Instead of the solution, you found a pitch for a Sci-Fi novel.
This is why I'm grateful for zombie rats. They act as a reminder of how far we can go to steer away from simple implementation.
We all have these zombie rat thoughts. Thoughts that are a distraction from what we need to accomplish.
That keep us busy for the sake of being busy.
